Today I’d like to introduce and welcome Laurence St. John, author of the Metatron Series—currently, he’s working on books four and five. Laurence has agreed to answer a few questions, and here they are …
First of all, thank you very much for having me. I appreciate it very much.
- How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?
I have five unpublished or half-finished books. Two of them are from the Metatron Series, two are children’s books and one is an adult thriller. Whenever I get ideas, I begin writing then place in a folder for future works.
- How do you select the names of your characters?
Of course, I use my grandkids names, family members then I search for names on the internet. It depends on what type of character I’m looking to name. The main character and villains I search for something that hasn’t been used before. Before I chose “Metatron” I was looking for a powerful name. Many cool names I wanted were already taken. After a few weeks of searching, I came across an archangel called Metatron. After researching Metatron, I knew it was the name I was searching for.
- How did publishing your first book change your writing process?
It took almost six years to write, edit and publish my first book, and since then my writing process has changed drastically. Since I now know the in’s & out’s, have the connections and have a great publisher and editor, the process is much faster.
- Who is your favorite under-appreciated writer?
I don’t not have a favorite however all unknown writers are all under-appreciated. There are thousands of great stories that people will never know about due to the fact that most writers can’t afford to promote themselves/their books like the “well-known” writers.
- Do you believe in writer’s block?
Yes, I believe in writer’s block. What I do when it happens to me is exercise. Once I perform some sit-ups, push-ups and/or run on the treadmill or outside it gets by blood flowing causing me the think better.
